This project had so many design challenges that it required us to completely re-imagine this home. Located in Aspen’s historic West End, the home consisted of an 1880 historic miner’s shack, a 1970s garage addition built by Hippies, and a very bad 1980’s solarium that connected the two. In short this home needed some work. We worked closely with Aspen’s Historic Preservation Committee and the Owner’s to restore the miner’s shack from the inside out, demolish the solarium, and design a light filled, modern box as the connection between the historic and the newly renovated garage section.
